Reporting to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary and working closely with a legal team of regional lawyers and a paralegal, the Legal Counsel will support Interfor’s corporate team and operations in British Columbia and provide additional support in other regions where the company operates, including Ontario, New Brunswick, and the United States.

The successful candidate will bring at least seven years of corporate/commercial experience and will play a key role in advising on contracts, M&A transactions, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and more. This role provides exposure to a broad range of legal matters across the company’s operations and requires a pragmatic, collaborative, and business-oriented approach. You will also be responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements, supporting M&A activity, including due diligence and integration, advising on public company and securities matters, and providing guidance on regulatory compliance, including lobbying, modern slavery, and international trade. You will work closely with internal teams across departments, including operations, sales, IT, finance, HR, and procurement, and manage relationships with external counsel as needed.

The ideal candidate will be a member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia, with strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to simplify complex legal concepts, and a collaborative, practical mindset. Experience in public company compliance, the manufacturing sector, or in-house roles will be considered assets, as will the ability to work in French.

This is a full-time, on-site role based at Interfor’s Burnaby (Metrotown) office, five days a week (with occasional flexibility as needed).
