GCT operates the largest container terminal in the country and is a leading employer in Canada’s maritime sector. With over $2B in annual economic output, GCT plays a central role in international trade and has helped build the Asia Pacific Gateway for over a century. With headquarters in Vancouver, the company offers opportunities for professionals who are accountable, innovative, and thrive in a collaborative setting.

GCT is seeking a General Counsel and Corporate Secretary to join its executive team in Vancouver. This strategic role works closely with the Board Chair, Directors, shareholders, and senior leadership. As the company’s chief legal advisor, the General Counsel oversees legal, governance, commercial, regulatory, and strategic matters across the organization.

Responsibilities include leading legal support on operations, contracts, procurement, litigation, terminal concessions, compliance, credit and financings, and pensions. The successful candidate will also advise on major initiatives, including terminal expansion, capital projects, and strategic transactions, and oversee external counsel when needed.

As Corporate Secretary, the role manages corporate governance and records, advises on governance matters, supports shareholder relations, and ensures compliance with filing and disclosure obligations. The Secretary also recommends governance improvements and maintains records for all GCT entities.

Candidates should have at least 15 years of legal experience, with strong corporate and commercial expertise and five or more years of in-house leadership, ideally with Corporate Secretary responsibilities. Membership in a Canadian Law Society and a J.D. or LL.B. are required. Strong business judgment, communication skills, and a collaborative, practical approach are essential.
